Analyst / Senior Analyst – Portfolio Reporting

Pennybacker is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and collaborative individual to join our Portfolio Reporting team as an Analyst or Senior Analyst in our Austin, TX office. The candidate will play a key role supporting many teams across the firm and be responsible for performance data that goes out to investors. This is ahigh-impact role requiring analytical rigor, cross-functional collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset.

The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of real estate investments, possess strong analytical skills, and have a passion for identifying and solving complex challenges, with a strong drive for continuous improvement and innovation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior investment leaders and contribute to the growth and success of our Real Estate investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Accounting Oversight

· Support senior team members to identify and evaluate new investments

· Review monthly financial reporting packages from 3rd party managers. Ensuring timeliness, completeness, and accuracy

· Review journal entries related to acquisitions, financings, loan activity, contributions/distributions, and dispositions

· Maintain and update chart of accounts mappings between property manager systems and Pennybacker Alpha, the firm’s internal data analytics platform

· Provide technical accounting guidance to property management teams

Data & Technology Integration

· Collaborate with the data team to enhance Pennybacker Alpha's financial and operational analytics capabilities

· Assist in developing tools for performance analysis, and ad hoc reporting requests

·  Review and maintain accuracy of asset, transaction, and debt data within the system

·  Recommend process improvements that drive efficiency and data accuracy

Other Responsibilities

·  Support asset-level valuations by managing data inputs and coordinating with the Portfolio Optimization team

·  Accumulate performance metrics across all asset types for quarterly investor reports and updates

·   Ensure completeness and accuracy of portfolio data used in institutional reporting

·  Organize and maintain portfolio documentation required for annual tax audit

·  Partner with the Finance and Accounting team on audit deliverables and ad hoc requests

·  Coordinate with loan servicer to track interest payments on credit investments

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.

·  Minimum2 years of relevant experience in public accounting or real estate accounting

· Technical: Highly proficient in property accounting and excel

· AI Tools: Proficiency or strong familiarity in using AI modeling tools and other
