Vice president of Finance and corporate strategy

The Vice President of Finance and Corporate Strategy is a member of the executive team and is responsible for managing and reporting on all fiscal and fiduciary affairs of the company, including reporting to partners, lenders, and government agencies, analyzing financial, cash and investment management, budgeting and forecasting, developing and monitoring internal procedures and controls, human resources, and responsible for elements of risk management. Additional responsibilities as needed will be given.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the company’s finance and reporting activity

    • Timely and accurate reporting of fund and asset performance

  • Responsible for preparation of Pennybacker’s fiscal operating plans and forecasts

    • Develop and maintain sophisticated economic controls and processes to enable timely, high quality information enabling leadership to quickly make decisions

  • Manage short-term, mid-term and long-term cash requirements detailed by strategy

  • Build and maintain predictive fund level planning tools/models

  • Lead risk management (insurance) and employee benefits procurement

  • Lead all human resources activities of the firm

  • Provide leadership and execution of a wide range of financial transactions; provide advice on business formation and structures including development deals, joint venture and operating agreements

  • Work directly with executive team and serve as finance leader, playing an important role in enhancing the organization’s financial and operation performance

  • Reporting to the CFO of Pennybacker, receiving direction and guidance as required, and keeping CFO and CEO informed of all matters relating to financial needs/issues related to the firm’s investment management activities

  • Establish and reinforce parameters for asset-level financing, guarantees, and letters of credit, reserves and other construction and/or lease-up obligations to ensure continuity and controls are adhered to and achieved

  • Ensure proper reporting across the operating businesses

  • Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, investors and bankers

  • Hire, train, develop and maintain a high-performance finance and reporting team

  • Provide leadership and direction to team and maintain the company culture and values

Qualifications

  • Seven plus years of work experience in similar role with investment companies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance

  • A CPA or proven experience overseeing financial planning, reporting and capital markets is preferred

  • An MBA or other advanced degree related to real estate or finance is highly desirable

Investor relations & FINANCIAL reporting analyst

Pennybacker Capital is seeking an Investor Relations & Financial Reporting Analyst to join its dynamic and entrepreneurial team, reporting to the CFO. We are looking for a highly motivated, qualified professional with a proven track record of achievement and teamwork to join our team. Essential Functions

  • Compile accounting information and conduct detailed financial and real estate data analyses in response to quarterly data-intensive investor requests and prospective investor due diligence requests during fundraising

  • Prepare the investment-level monthly investor updates and quarterly investor letters, including quantitative financial and real estate data visualizations, qualitative content generation and aesthetic design

  • Develop investor relations materials (investor presentations, website updates, property tour books, etc.) in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues

  • Ensure all investor materials are in line with compliance standards by coordinating with the Chief Compliance Officer

  • Facilitate delivery of investor information requests through completion and coordinate with internal teams to identify proper information and review

  • Review and track subscription documents for new investors

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, or finance or 3+ years relevant experience

Vice president of construction management

Pennybacker Capital is seeking a Vice President of Construction Management to join its dynamic, entrepreneurial team located in Austin, Texas. Pennybacker Capital is a rapidly growing real estate private equity firm that invests in multifamily, office, retail, and senior living assets in select growth markets of the United States. Essential Functions

  • Works with Investment Team to support due diligence efforts for new investment opportunities in the continental US. Provide input on project cost and schedule for value-add opportunities and lead feasibility efforts for potential development opportunities including zoning, design and pre-construction.

  • Works with Portfolio Optimization team to lead all construction activities for principal investment opportunities. This includes managing the bid processes, contractor selection, general contractor management as well as project management of all Pennybacker construction activities.

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Initiate and manage the procurement of design, construction and consultants services;

    • Manage the team in planning and analysis of conceptual design and preconstruction activities;

    • Oversee and review the development of architectural and engineering construction drawings and bid documents;

    • Draft, review, communicate and enforce contractual documents for design and construction professionals;

    • Serve as liaison between Pennybacker and design and construction professionals;

    • Meet with city officials, contractors, architects, engineers and consultants to present the project status and anticipate issues;

    • Coordinate permitting process with city officials and design and construction teams;

    • Anticipate potential changes to budget or schedule and provide guidance on the review and analysis of changes when presented;

    • Develop and monitor project budget and schedule, including updating and maintaining web-based project controls;

    • Review contractor and vendor onsite activities to verify they are in contractual compliance with design specifications, schedules and workmanship standards;

    • Authorize the issuance of contracts, purchase orders and approve and process scheduled progress draw packages for payment;

    • Manage the project close out process to successful completion;

    • Observe and report on construction process and construction related issues;

    • Prepare documentation for analysis and review of specific issues;

    • Establish, direct and/or document project meetings

  • Develop and implement best-practice construction processes with ability to lead and grow the construction team as Pennybacker grows and enters new markets and product types

  • 40% of the job requires travel

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience in development, construction and/or project management

  • Aptitude and willingness to use new technologies that add efficiencies to the construction process

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities

  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project controls, project management, construction documentation and sequencing

  • A working knowledge of alternate materials/methods; construction costs, value-engineering techniques and Building/Occupancy laws and lease requirements

  • The ability to demonstrate skills in managing successful projects; meeting project expectations and timelines; procuring and engaging design, construction and consultant services

  • The ability to maintain professionalism in the face of deadlines; exhibit good listening, negotiation and problem-solving skills; and to handle confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness
