SENIOR FUND ACCOUNTANT

Pennybacker Capital is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join its dynamic, entrepreneurial team located in Austin, Texas.  Pennybacker Capital is a rapidly growing private equity firm that invests in real assets in high growth markets of the United States.  Pennybacker’s stellar reputation of performance and integrity has produced a stable investor base with major institutional investors and family offices.  We are looking for a highly motivated, qualified professional with a proven track record of achievement and teamwork to join our Finance, Accounting, and Investor Reporting team.  The ideal candidate will share Pennybacker’s philosophy of integrity, transparency, and honesty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in all fund-level operating activities including investment funding, cash transactions, fund-level cash needs, and line of credit administration/debt compliance.
  • Liaison with third party fund administrator on preparation of capital calls, distributions, quarterly financial statements, line of credit activity, fund waterfalls, management fee calculations and ad hoc investor requests.
  • Coordinate with outside CPA firm on annual audit and tax return preparation.
  • Assist in preparing fund-level performance metrics.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements regarding processes and controls.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Managing Director, Head of Accounting


QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting; advanced degree or CPA preferred
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, and balance competing priorities
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and finance with advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience with a mix of public accounting (with investment management or fund related clients) and/or fund administration experience, commercial real estate or other investment/finance related area; exposure to private equity, partnership accounting and real estate a plus
  • Familiar with K-1’s, Texas Franchise Tax, and various other State/Federal Fillings.
  • Confident under pressure and comfortable meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Team player who is comfortable being in a support role and comfortable accepting and providing constructive feedback
